ABOUT...
Martina Reed discovered her love for dance in her hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan. After transferring from Oakland University, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Western Michigan University in May of 2021. During this time, she performed in works by choreographers Mike Esperanza, Monique Haley, Jeremy Blair, Stephanie Pizzo, Liz Riga, Molly McMullen, Claire Little, Kaitlyn Pollock, and more. She also performed with dance companies Oakland Dance Theatre, Orchesis Dance Society, and Hip Hop ConnXion Michigan. While attending school and after graduating, Martina was a lead instructor at Center Stage Dance Studio, coached the Harper Creek High School Pom Team, and choreographed for multiple studios around southwest Michigan. Martina relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 2022 to further her professional career. She danced with Movementum Dance Project from 2022-2024. She was a lead instructor for the youth and adult programs at Dance On Broadway, and worked as their studio administrator for their 2023-2024 season. Martina is officially back in Michigan and just started her own business, DANCESCAPE. She is so excited for the next chapter of her dance journey!

artistic statement
My creative process begins with familiarity of a concept on a personal level. The goal is to make dance that holds purpose and allow the perception of a concept to shift in some way, whether that be for myself or an audience. I take pride in being open-minded about ways of moving and enjoy altering movement with the aid of film and production elements. My choreography is shaped by the relationship between the principles of contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. Isolation paired with musicality, shifting traveling patterns, pedestrian/simplistic movement, and meaning gestures can be found within my work. Expressing authenticity throughout my artistry will remain most important throughout my creative lifetime.

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Western Michigan University in May 2021 where training was focused on Modern, Ballet, and Jazz. No matter your experience level, I am eager to provide you with training that helps you achieve your goals within your own space or my own. I use my Canon M50 Mark ii while filming and have access to a gimbal and tripod. I can provide you with basic footage for a flat rate, or work with you exclusively to create your dance film.
